Hi!! I️ am wondering what SOAR will be like and kind of the general outline of it. I️ am also wondering what advisors are like, if they work a lot of people who have already took college classes. Yes, i️ know a lot of people have but I have 49+ credits going into madison already and i️ don’t want to somehow end up taking classes just to take them, i️ am already advanced and i️ wanna keep it that way! Thanks in advance:)))

Chance me for UW Madison--and only Madison
-Background-
I'm a straight white male from Minnesota attending a very rigorous private, Catholic, military, "college-prep", all-male school. I'm currently a Junior but have been looking at colleges for a while now and UW Madison is one that has consistently been at the top of my lists. I have been on campus many times and everything about the university feels perfect to me. I want to major in engineering, specifically biomedical, but I doubt that will pan out and I'm okay with settling for something else. I would be heartbroken if I couldn't attend, but I also want honest feedback--don't hold back from crushing my feelings.
-Stats-
GPA: ~3.4 (bad start, huh? Freshman: ~3.3, Sophomore: ~3.6, Junior: currently 3.3)
ACT: 32 (considering taking again to see if I can get a higher score if it even matters now)
AP World History: 3
AP Calc AB: 4 (maybe, I plan on studying really hard for it)
AP US History: 4 (maybe, we do a lot of prep in class and I enjoy the subject)
I want to take AP Biology, AP Statistics, and AP Economics as a senior.
-Extracurriculars-
Cross Country: 3 years (Most Improved Award 2015)
Nordic Skiing: 4 years (Varsity last season)
Quiz Bowl: 2 years
Band: 5 years (Equipment Manager this year, Section Leader next year, also been playing instruments since second grade)
Podcast Club: 1 year (Co-founder)
Logic Club (we solve Rubik's Cubes and play strategy games): 1 year (Co-founder)
Make EDM for fun: 1 year
Will be getting a job as soon as I can drive.
-Things to Note-
A lot of people in my family have attended UW Madison. (both parents, sibling, cousins, aunts, and uncles)
Will be going on an ecology trip to Costa Rica over summer break, one of the instructors said it really looks good to colleges when kids go on trips like this. (He also happens to work very closely with UW Madison professors.)
Have gone to UW Madison's summer music clinic once, and plan on going again over the summer.
-Letters of Recommendation-
English teacher I am friends with, has seen me grow up for the past 5 years.
Biology teacher that I have only known a short amount of time, but really admire and who is also helping on my Costa Rica trip and is also a graduate of UW Madison.
Math/Physics teacher who I haven't made the best impression on, but has seen me demonstrate a good work ethic and also likes me.
Nordic Skiing coach who has also seen me grow up for 5 years, also had him for life and earth sciences as a middle schooler.
Maybe my confirmation sponsor, who I've known for a year and a half but has seen me spiritually mature and we have become good friends.
-Closing-
I've shown a lot of people this and they say I have no chance, but I really don't want to give up so easily. I want to prove all of those people wrong. UW Madison is my dream school and I really hope I can attend in just under two years. In addition to comments and notes for me, I would really appreciate any insight on how to better my resume before applications are due next year.

Chancellor's Reception
I was recently emailed that as one of "Wisconsin's top seniors" I was invited to a Chancellor's Reception at UW Madison on April 13 to meet with Chancellor Blank. Anyone else?? Is this just a promo to retain students or could there be a scholarship involved?

Wisconsin engineering - internship and coop opportunities
Hello folks.
My son's choices for mechanical engineering have been reduced to Wisconsin and Purdue. It seems Purdue does a great job of assisting students find internships/coops.
Can anybody speak to how good UW is in this respect? If you are knowledgeable about both schools, how do they compare?
Thanks.

Chancellor/Powers-Knapp Scholarship
Just curious, have any of you applied for the Chancellor/Powers-Knapp Scholarship? I applied for priority consideration back in November but I'm curious to see how many people applied for priority as well.

UW Madison Spring Term Enrollment Program
Did anyone else from MN just get invited to the new spring term enrollment program? From my understanding of it it means that because I accepted the waitlist I can transfer to Madison for the Spring 2018 semester (if I maintain a 3.2 for the fall semester at another college). Does this mean I won't be taken off the waitlist then, or is there still I chance I could get in in the fall? Nevertheless I'm ecstatic about the opportunity to attend after being deferred and then waitlisted!

Experiences in WISE Dorm
Hi everyone! College decision season is almost over, and although mine has been really, really nice, I'll probably go to Madison because it's the cheapest out of the ones I'm considering. I'm also considering living in the WISE learning community, but I had a few questions about it. I was wondering if there's a curfew, and and if the people that run it, like, keep track of where you are. For example, if I stayed somewhere besides my room one night would they care? I'm not planning to be a major partier in college, but I am going to go out two or three nights each week probably, and I want to find out how 'mom-like' the dorm will be. Thank you so much!!

UW-Madison Pre-Med
How many students from UW-Madison get into medical school? Do they accept many students into their own medical school?

Double engineering
Hello, I was accepted to UW College of Engineering, and I'm planning to primarily apply for Chemical Engineering. Assuming I get accepted to my major, can I major in two engineering majors such as Chemical and Nuclear? Even if it takes 5 years to graduate.

Transfer Between Schools at UW-Madison
I’m an incoming freshmen for the fall 2018 semester. I was looking to pursue a major in Mathematics, but now I’m not so sure. Ever since I’ve been accepted into the college of letters & science, I’ve actually taken an interest in accounting. The thing is, accounting is in the business school of UW, so I was wondering if I could transfer? Is there a whole process for this? Or do I just have to speak with an advisor?

UW-Madison Transfer Student Fall 2018 CHANCE ME PLZ HELP
I applied regular decision for Fall 2018 transfer for UW Madison, which I don't know how that would affect me but here are my stats. I'm currently a freshman at the University of Kansas and my Fall Semester GPA was a 3.0. I'm involved in several activities in college which I included on my app. In high school, I had a moderately average ACT and ended up graduated with a 3.3 GPA. However, my underclassmen years were much stronger than the remainder of high school due to some personal issues that I think I did a thorough job explaining in both of my essays. I took multiple AP courses (Macro, Us History, Comparative Politics, and Gov) as well as some foreign language college credits through a local university. I was also very involved in High School through sports, clubs, work, community service. I have two recommendation letters and one from a teacher and one is from an alumni of UW-Madison that is still very involved with the University. I also am a legacy and would be a 3rd generation badger. Some members of my family are very large donors and are very involved with the University today.
I guess I don't want to get my hopes up because I know my grades aren't the best but I've been working really hard this semester and will probably end around with a 3.6+ for Spring. I also don't want problems in the past to be the reason for me being rejected because I have really come a long way from that. UW Madison is my dream school so any advice/uplifting/realistic thoughts are encouraged. Thanks :)

Waitlisted at UW-Madison- what are my chances???
Hey guys, so regular decisions came out from the University of Wisconsin Madison today, congrats to everyone who got in!!! I’m from Minnesota and was wondering what my chances of getting off the waitlist are.
4.0 gpa (on a 4 scale)
34 ACT
I play three sports and am very involved in student government, national honor society, a religious club at school, and have done A Lot or volunteering
I recently won a few awards such as regional science fair and I’m going to send those with my decisions to accept waitlist.
I really want to go here but i don’t know how many they usually take off of wait list. If you have any tips that would be great!

Learning Communities
So I have decided to attend UW Madison this upcoming fall (wooooo!!!) And I was wondering if I should live learning community. I'm in the College of Letters and Sciences for Psychology and in the honors program, with plans to go into medicine. Should I try for the learning community BioHouse or WISE?
